Inspired by La Petite Fashionista, I decided to do a little questionnaire.Who is your favorite designer?Chloé is probably my absolute favorite. I also love YSL, Dries Van Noten, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, and Marni- especially for shoes.
If you could come back as a dress, what would it be?I would love to be anything from the Spring 2006 Chloé collection, but I especially loved this beauty:

If you could come back as a model, who would it be?I think Lily Donaldson and Gemma Ward are absolutely stunning.
If you could come back with someone else’s body, whose would it be?I like mine too, but Lara Stone has a fantastic figure.
What are you most vain about?I’m pretty self-conscious, so that’s a tough one. Maybe my grammar snobbishness comes off a bit vain.
What are you most shy about?I’m pretty shy with and intimidated by my “higher ups,” i.e. bosses, interviewers, etc.
Junk food?Love it. I’m not a sweets person, but I make up for it with my love of salty foods. Chips are my waist’s worst enemy.Who are your fantasy dinner-party guests?Michael Franti, John Galliano, Hamid Karzai, and Salvador Dalí and Rafik Hariri (no one said they had to be alive!).
Fantasy celebrity one-night stand?Benicio del Toro. HANDS DOWN.Favorite place to have a drink?I love the 515 here in Santa Cruz.Underwear?I have a vast variety, but I do like Victoria’s Secret. If I could afford it, it’d be La Perla all the way.
What can’t you travel without?Books and my iPod.
Last book you read?
Married to a Bedouin by Marguerite van Geldermalsen. It was fantastic, and I can’t wait to graduate and get to all those books I haven’t been able to read the past four years!
At age seven, you wanted to be…A teacher.
What’s the thing you find easiest to forgive?Lateness.
What’s the thing you find impossible to forgive?Bold-faced lies.
Biggest self-indulgence?
Absolutely shoes. I have a serious addiction.
Favorite place to shop?I love H&M. There’s a couple great stores in Santa Cruz called Kurios and Bunny’s that I shop at, and Crossroads Trading Co. all over the States. I also love Neiman Marcus and Saks, but that’s mostly for lust-shopping.
Favorite place to shop online?Shopbop and Net-a-Porter for browsing. GoJane is the best for cheap but awesome shoes, and Etsy for just about anything.
Whose diary would you most like to read?Obama. I could see him as a journal-er.Least favorite food?Cauliflower. UGH.
If you were an inventor, what would you invent?Teleportation machine.
Who are your favorite furniture designers?I’m not going to pretend I know anything about furniture designers, but I love furniture shopping at Crate and Barrel, Restoration Hardware, Z Galerie, and Ikea.Car?Has been and still is the BMW 745Li. I also gotta rep my dad’s former employer, because the Volvo XC90 is a fantastic car.
What was your childhood nickname?Bird and birdy. When and where are you happiest? With my family, neighbors, and close friends at one of our many cocktail parties.
What piece of art would you most like to own?Dalí’s Autumn Cannibalism and Magritte’s The Treachery of Images.
What are your favorite vacation spots?Anywhere in Denmark, Paris, Belize, and anywhere I still haven’t been!
Most treasured possession? My grandmother’s wedding band and the needlework top passed down from my great-grandmother. Lots of sentimental value.
Favorite fictional character?I love Daisy from The Great Gatsby.Favorite musicians?Michael Franti, Devendra Banhart, System of a Down… there are a lot more too.
If you had another profession beside your own, what would it be?I’ve always wanted to be a writer. In addition to that, my dream career that I’m beginning to pursue is fashion buyer. What current trends would you like to see disappear?I can’t believe the Ugg trend hasn’t died yet. They should have been abolished from the very beginning.
Favorite trend of all time?Platforms have been around since ancient times, but I think they really became a “trend” in the 60s. I still LOVE them.
Always…Be you.
Never…Regret.

Hello lovelies,
I’m not dead, I swear. I turned in my full draft (36 pages!) of my thesis to my adviser the other day. He gave me his comments today and after a few tweaks here and there, it should be done by the end of next week! What a relief.
In other news, I’m getting a haircut soon. I’m growing tired of the standard long layers look, so I think this is what I’m going for…

I’ve always loved the bob/bangs look. I’m going to have to put more effort into my hair though, because this style will need blowdrying. I’m usually a wash-and-go type of girl.

A quick little update for y’all…

Yesterday was my 22nd birthday. I am now officially old. It’s weird, because 21 was such an exciting, epic birthday but now that I’m 22 I feel like I need to be a responsible adult… oy.

Going along with that theme, I need to have a complete rough draft of my thesis done by the end of the month. Meaning, you probably won’t be hearing a lot from me since I’m such a horrible procrastinator and now I need to get my ass into gear.

Stick around though, because once I’m done you’ll be getting a lot more posts!

What am I most excited about in regards to graduation? Reading for pleasure. Finally being able to read the books I want to rather than those I must… and no more feeling guilty when I do read what I feel like.
On my list…
1. finish Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Graham-Smith
2. Armenian Golgotha by Grigoris Balakian and Peter Balakian
3. Inside Lebanon: Journey to a Shattered Land with Noam and Carol Chomsky by Assaf Khoury
4. Venus in Furs by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch
5. Opium Season: A Year on the Afghan Frontier by Joel Hafvenstein
6. Coraline by Neil Gaiman

These are the jelly gladiators I bought today. The colors are much brighter in real life, which is great. A perfect easy, light summer sandal that was cheap and can be thrown away or saved for 2020 when they’ll be back in style. I picked up the pink pair first for $5, and at the register was told all clearance items were buy one get one for 1 cent! So mama brought home the green ones too.

. Mood: Calm, happy. Getting things done.
.. Best thing about this weekend: I went to a shooting range for the first time, which was really fun. I’ve always wanted to try it- shot a .22 handgun and a .38 revolver. The revolver felt like I was in a showdown in the wild wild west. For such a small and physically weak girl, I’m a pretty damn good shot.
… What I’m reading: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Graham-Smith.
…. What I’m watching: Just started watching Gossip Girl. I can’t believe what I’ve been missing out on.
….. Makeup lust: I’m not a makeup girl, but Marc Jacobs’ new perfume, Lola, intrigues me.
…… Working out (my mind) to: Iron & Wine’s Norfolk live CD.
……. Last purchase: Two pairs of jelly gladiator sandals.
…….. What I’m looking forward to this week: Getting shit done! Hopefully finishing my thesis rough draft and beginning the editing process.
……… I want: To be done with my schoolwork.
………. Aim for tomorrow: WRITEWRITEWRITE
